SoundPost Strings

SoundPost is a specialist stringed instrument shop- (we are the 'original Soundpost')- established since 1972. We stock and sell from the shop or via mail order, or via this website, a range of strings for many types of instruments. Our product knowledge and experience is second to none. We have sourced internationally and stock and sell only high quality 'branded' products. Call to discuss your specific needs and suitability of any string for your instrument.

Categories: We stock and sell sets of strings for: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Classical guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin, Viola da Gamba, Lute, Early guitar, Nyckelharpa, in fact anything bowed or plucked
We stock these brands:
Pirastro, Larsen, Jargar, Innovation, Velvet, Warchal, the Thomastik range ie Dominant, Vision, Infeld and others, Helicore, Savarez, d'Addario, Corelli, Prim, Kurschner, and many others.

Pricing and Policy: We do not display lists of strings, or pricing, as this changes constantly: We price-match every full set of strings, to ensure you get the best possible price. We guarantee to automatically price match any full string sets purchased, via 'mail order or 'online' only, in order to be sure of the best UK price. Individual strings are available from the studio, in person, only.

To purchase, visit the 'Purchase' page for options, or simply call or e mail us.

While we offer a mail order service, strings purchased in the shop may be at a slightly higher price, due to the fact that we fit strings at no extra charge if purchased in person in the studio. This also gives an ideal opportunity to detect and discover any immediate and obvious problems with your instrument, for example difficult pegs, sharp edges at bridge or nut, all causes for prematurely breaking strings. On-line purchases may appear easier, but the personal service we offer cannot be matched online. We can also offer advice on the best type of string and correct tension for your instrument. (Smaller sizes of string usually held in stock, sold only in full sets)

Please remember also that some apparently low-priced 'online' string sales may in fact be for counterfeit products.

Please Note: Our prices include VAT- many other apparently cheaper prices advertised do not always include VAT, so when making comparisons, bear this in mind please. For UK addresses strings are sent via 1st class recorded or special delivery, charged at cost price, packing free. For postage on straight strings in tubes, £2.50 extra, and for postage to all non UK addresses, please enquire. Please check postage charge before purchasing.

While we try to hold many products in stock, if any item is not in stock, order time is often 'next day', or at most usually only 2-3 days.

We stock only genuine, branded, quality items: Not all products we stock are listed on the site however- so if you do not find what you want, call and ask- we may well have it, or know where to get it and can order for you.
Visitors to the studio are welcome, by prior appointment only: Opening times and all contact details and directions are on our 'Contact' page.
