- Basses
have been the focus for this year, the studio has acquired a small but high quality stock of basses, and in addition to older basses , we are now agents and stockists in the UK for the Heinrich Gill basses, as advertised in the Bassist, as well as those by Henri deLille, and other brands. SoundPost accepts all major credit cards,(except AmEx)
in order to facilitate the growing e-commerce this website has generated. While we have no secure website (we do not trust them yet, so do not expect you to trust them either ), we can accept your credit card details over the phone, fax or e-mail, or even in person! Unlike other dealers, we make no surcharge for credit cards, we absorb the costs ourselves. In addition we usually make no delivery/postage charge for some smaller items in the UK, and charge delivery only at cost if larger. Packing is always free. So when comparing our prices to those of other dealers and shops, please bear this in mind.
- SoundPost is building up a stock of selected current English makers work- This is designed to promote the work of younger English makers, to provide an outlet/showcase for selected makers. In the few months this has been in operation, some succesful sales have already been achieved. Please ask for an up-to-date list of instruments in stock. New makers are welcome to make contact, and request for their work to be included in my stock, subject to approval. (Suggested ideas for the concept include the title - 'Not the Nework Group' - other suggestions welcome.)
- To continue the above theme, emphasis on older British makers is taking place in SoundPost. This is attempt to increase awareness of some fine British makers of the last 150 years, greatly undervalued in our view. Makers currently featured included Atkinson, Heaton, Robinson, Dobbie, Ferguson, Hart, Pyne, Wulme-Hudson, Hill, Hart, Luff , and others.
- SoundPost is now a UK agent and stockist for Arcos bows, handmade in Brazil, from pernambuco- we stock all sizes of cello and violin bow, both nickel and silver mounted. These bows are well made, most of the makers having been trained by Pierre Guillaume of Brussels, and in addition the company is actively involved in replanting the precious wood needed for these bows.
- SoundPost now stocks the superb range of carbon fibre bows, made in Austria by ARCUS. These are very light bows, but due to their increased strength the lightness is not a problem in any way. In fact it is a help. They are visually superb, the quality of finish very high, and are virtually unbreakable, and cannot warp. They carry a 10 year guarantee. Soundpost now carries stocks off these bows, in violin, viola and cello, and bass. - Many website based internet sales now sold under SoundPost 'Direct Line' - which means possibly the lowest prices for strings, and also on some cases sold via the internet in the UK. These low prices are only available for internet based sales, the shop prices will continue to be at RRP, but in the shop we offer other services free eg string fitting, advice, or 'trying for size' for cases.
Are we trying too hard? Certainly not- We simply aim to provide the best service for musicians, young and old, amateur or professional, in the UK.

The cello guard is designed to fit over the table/bridge of any full size cello while it is in a soft cover. It protects the bridge area from impact/ crushing, and also holds the bows straight and free from damage. Made especially for the SoundWear range of covers, it will fit inside most soft covers.
